[1] First, Let me tell everyone that it has been great running this BBS. Now incase you don't know whats going on in I (The Raven) will be going away in the beginning of June. At first I was gonna take down the BBS cause i did'nt think anyone would be able to keep it the way that I wanted it to be, but I've trained a few people and I believe that this BBS will better. Now take note! The new # for the New York Hack Exchange will be: Node 1: 718-743-774* Node 2: 718-PRI-VATE (only elite users will get it!) Yepp there will be 2 nodes 1 will be for regular users and the other will be for Elite users, there will be also alot of other things such as new transfer areas, with sections thats we (HTH) kept private. As well as all the files that we have but did'nt put on this system cause I've been busy with other things. My address will be posted, when I go in. See ya in about a year or so! I recently corresponded to them via email since I am a multimedia developer and would be interested if the IBM could do what I've been developing on the Amiga (I am motivated by profit, I don't care WHO has the best computer....so far, it's always been the Amiga..) He informed me, that just to 'approach the amiga 500/600 at 7mhz' you would need a *25* mhz 386sx WITH the MPC options added! *AND* they had to write their own operating type system because Windoze and OS/2 just couldn't cut it multitasking wise (you see, when doing heavy duty graphics, music, sounds, and animations you need to be able to read from the hard drive for new data while at the same time doing your diplaying of graphics so that when that display is done, the machine is ready to show the next graphic) Well, the Amigas were ALWAYS hardware multitasking and they could do that..but IBMs weren't..so SCALA wrote MOS, their Multitasking Operating System. HOWEVER, not even the most powerful Pentium could run an animation AND read data from the hard drive..so in other words, your presentation or interactive touch-screen application would have to run the animation and then STOP and read...NO WAY! I can't use that since my kiosks have animated icons! machine is ready to show the next graphic) Well, the Amigas were ALWAYS hardware multitasking and they could do that..but IBMs weren't..so SCALA wrote MOS, their Multitasking Operating System. Well folks, no way to argue against that one! That comes straight from a manufacturer who would certainly be glad if they COULD get PCs to do what Amigas can do....and hell, if Amigas are good enough for IBM, surely they're good enough for you, right?
